Squash at Maritzburg College

This relatively young sport was started at Maritzburg College in 1974 with two courts. Squash became official in 1976 with J Dancaster as the first Captain and school Champion. Mr CJ Esprey coached the team for seven years followed by Mr R van Heerden.  Two more courts were added in 1983.

Squash is a popular, social sport that combines speed, skill and mental strength. The values one attains from squash can be translated into any avenue - whether it is another sport or simply the timeless attribute of commitment.  The calibre of squash being played at College at the moment is very encouraging for the future.
