The Midlands league was set up in 1991 and has been run by Maritzburg College ever since its inception. Golf only became an official sport a few years later. Maritzburg College golf has gone from strength to strength since becoming official and has had at least one member in the Natal Foundation side since 1993.

The boys are able to play at least three times a week at Maritzburg Golf Club. The golf team is generally made up of all single figure handicaps and the boys are able to play golf throughout the year meaning the boys are specialising in the sport.

College has produced three SA U18 players and a number of our players have gone on to the U.S.A. on golf scholarships.

Golf is also played against the Durban schools in the third and fourth terms and recently a number of teams from outside the province have start playing against College during interschool exchanges. A school Championship is also held on an annual basis.
