Welcome to the Maritzburg College Club – the official “supporters’ club” of our school.

Launched in 2016, the College Club brings together all College supporters – parents, Old Boys, staff etc. – under one umbrella and aims to get them involved in all the various happenings and events at the school.

Everyone in the College community is welcome to join the College Club – even if that simply means their wearing the school’s red-black-white supporters’ gear at sports matches on Saturdays! Membership is free and all parents are automatically given membership upon their sons’ enrolment.

2017 events

In 2017, the Club will again be heavily involved in especially three demanding but exciting events:

  • Reunion Day, 13 May: Months of planning goes into this much-anticipated gathering of the College tribe, which sees hundreds of Old Collegians descend on their old school from around the world. The day is complicated, demanding but enormous fun. We need people to assist with jobs that range from flower arranging to serving coffee; from branding the school to basting the sheep-on-the-spit!
  • Dusi2C mountain-bike race, 10 June: The event’s organisers are former College parents and have for a number of years invited College’s participation for fundraising purposes. We need help with sourcing the sponsorship of items and with the many duties involved in this premier mountain-biking event – from packing the riders' boxes to catering for over 600 people; from setting up tents at the overnight stop to merely driving a car to Durban early on the Sunday morning. Each year we need over 250 volunteers – at least 60 adults, 100 boys and 90 drivers – so please contact the Club if you can help.
  • College Family Day, 26 August: This fun day for the entire school includes the popular Skonk Nicholson 7s Rugby Tournament and the 5s Hockey Tournament – with the now annual Junior Social taking place on the Friday night. The Club needs help with the setting up of the popular craft market and all the catering on Goldstone’s for over 4 000 hungry participants and visitors.

Goldstones Coffee Shop
In 2016, the Club successfully converted the Goldstones Club – the site of many a vigorous knees-up in days gone by – into the more genteel Goldstones Coffee Shop. In the busy winter months, this provides a peaceful, relaxed venue for parents to sit and chat over a cappuccino or a “toasted zarm” – the famous College tea-break delight of dubious nutritional value!

Supporters’ gear and memorabilia
The Club has taken over the selling of College’s memorabilia and supporters’ gear, all of which are available from the College Shoppe or from a satellite shop on Goldstone’s during home rugby matches.

New online store!
