The 2011 College 1st XI joins a select group of teams that have achieved the same distinction in the youthful hockey history of the school. The teams of 1989 (Captained by SA U18 Captain, Marc Ross ), 1995 (Captained by Springbok Ryan Shrives and including fellow Springbok Darryn Gallagher), 1996 (Captained by Justin Morris and including Springboks Iain Evans, and Gareth Carr), 1998 (Captained by Springbok Iain Evans and including fellow Springboks, Charl van der Merwe and Gareth Carr, Australian Under 21 International Greg Reece, along with SA Under 18 players that year, Richard Stewart, Gary Royston, Craig Maud, and Ryan van der Riet) and 1999 (Captained by Springbok Gareth Carr, and including fellow Springboks Charl van der Merwe, and SA u18 players, Mark Holness, Gary Royston and Ryan van der Riet).
This College 1st XI included four SA U18 players in Grant Glutz, Nicholas Berichon, Kewan Harries and Timothy Guise-Brown, but the strength of the team lay in its unity, its passion towards training, and its will to play for one another throughout the season |
