The Military Interest Society has evolved from the old Special History Project, which was formed in the early 1980s by College's legendary former history teacher, Mr Simon Haw. The current master-in-charge of the society is one of Mr Haw's former pupils, Mr MM Marwick, who enjoys a particular interest in all matters military. (As an aside, whilst Mr Marwick is the holder of a BA (Honours) degree in history, he is far more proud of having earned the prize for ‘Best Recruit in Basic Training' whilst serving out his national service in the State President's Guards in 1989-90!)

The MIS meets on Wednesday afternoons from 14h15 about five times per term, with many of its presentations being given by the ever-growing number of College Old Boys who are in various armed forced around the world. A number of its members have already begun to show an interest in joining especially the British Army.
